Yumm! Chili Cheese Brats!

No, she wasn't really falling out.
JW and me! He loves to take pictures. HA!!
Me and my little darlings!

Wednesday is Farmers Market day on the square in Carthage. I love it! I love going and seeing what fresh veggies and fruits they have. I typically get a honeydew, squash and zucchini. This time I also got a watermelon! Yumm! I'm so looking forward to eating them!

We went swimming. Justin grilled some hot dogs and chili cheese brats. They were so good! I was surprised. I'm not usually a brat kind of girl.

Fitness: YOGA! It was just Kellie and I being taught by my Dad. Shayla was studying (she's in summer school) and packing for vacation. It was an incredible session. Amy is at Jr High Camp as the head chick!

Here's a funny video of Sky shooting everyone!

These 2 think this game is really fun!

My feelings on Chick-Fil-A

She put the ring on over her swim suit-which already has a built in ring. Doubly protected!
It's exhausting swimming!
So silly.
Tuesday, of course, we swam! I took two very tired girls home.

Can you believe all the controversy around Chick-Fil-A right now? Good grief. I'm tired of it already. I'm tired of all the hate and negativity on both sides. I have gay friends, I love my gay friends. Do I agree with their lifestyle? No. Do I KNOW that Jesus loves them just as much as He loves me? ABSOLUTELY! I also have straight friends that I don't agree with their lifestyle. Do I KNOW that Jesus loves them as much as He loves me? 1000's times-YES! I'm certainly not perfect, I mess up on a daily basis and I know that Jesus couldn't love me more even if He tried. Issues like this bring out the ugly in both sides. When I read the interview that all of the controversy stems from; the man in no way, shape, or form is bashing anybody. He didn't spew hate. He said nothing about being homophobic. He just spoke his belief. Click on this if you want to read more. I could go on and on about this, but I won't. I love Chick-Fil-A. I love that there are godly people out there that aren't bashing and hating. I hate that the media will start BIG issues by twisting someones words all around.

Fitness:Kellie's hip was bothering her so we just did a brisk 2 mile walk. Great walk with a great girl. I love her heart.

New neighbor!

Pai playing with Justin.
Sky playing with my glasses. She's obsessed with glasses!
Justin and Sky.
My loves.
Monday I couldn't wait to get off work and go get my girls to meet Justin at the pool. I swam several laps (as much as Sky would let me).  We left the pool a little later than we wanted to. I'd like to blame someone other than me but I just didn't want to get out.
Fitness: Yoga night! While we were setting up our yoga studio (my driveway) my other next door neighbor was walking by and we introduced ourselves. Her name is Rachel and she seemed very nice. She said she would join us when she got back home from visiting her parents in Alaska. I hope that she does! Kellie, Shayla and I had a great time. We came up with some great nicknames for each other. It was our best yoga class so far. We did some new moves that we hadn't done before. Thanks again Dad for doing such a good job with us!  We missed you Amy!

Sunday Changes

Sky after church!
Pai after church!
My parents. How cute are they??
Me and Linde!
Love them!
My Dad shooting the kids as they jump.
Sunday I got the girls around and we went to church. It was a really great sermon. I love how Mark Christian preaches. I put Sky down for a nap and left her under Justins care. Paili and I took off to go swim. The Ellingtons are gone on vacation so that means we're forced to go and enjoy their pool every night this week and take care of their dogs. It's a really rough gig but somebodys got to do it. My parents, Linde and the boys joined us.We had so much fun. These 3 are such good little swimmers. I love water. :)
Fitness: Shayla had texted me earlier in the day and said we needed to discuss our evening runs. She said she didn't want to run anymore at night because of what had happened last Thursday. If you missed what happened, go back and read. She said she'll still do yoga. This means I'm even more thankful for Kellie and Amy! Kellie had a teething cranky baby so she opted out of the evening run. Amy is at camp. I got on the stair climber and then did some ab work. What a workout!

Potato Guns!

Paili, Colby, Madison, Skylar
Yes, Skylar is wearing a gun holster.
Auntie Erin and Sky-just swinging!
The kids playing in the pool.
Colby and Paili being kids.
Aaron and Justin building their potato guns!
Finished!
Aarons first shot of the night.

In this one Aaron burns his hair off his face. He wasn't hurt but it was so funny.

Justin's shot! They were shooting shirts here.

Aaron shooting a potato.

Justin shooting a potato.

Saturday we had a pretty chill afternoon hanging around the house.
The boys had seen something on TV Friday night that showed potato guns so they were so excited to make them Saturday. We left earlier than normal for their house so they had plenty of light and time. The kids played in the backyard in the pool, on the swing set, and in the sandbox. They had a great time. The boys cracked us up acting like little kids making the guns. Aaron had some issues with the ignitor and nearly melted his face off. We (maybe just me) laughed hysterically when he grabbed the ignitor and shocked himself. Justin had no problems with his but for "fuel" they used hairspray and aerosol deodorant. They found that the hairspray worked much better. They shot shirts out of the guns until the glue was totally set and then they used potatoes. It was much louder than the shirts so they only shot the potatoes a few times because it was late and didn't want the police called on them. We *may* have seen a police cruiser as we hurried back inside. Ha! I had purchased some fresh green beans and potatoes at the farmers market on Wednesday. Justin and I (with some very helpful girls) snapped the green beans earlier in the day and put them in the crockpot all day to cook. The boys also grilled some pork chops (and forgot to move the grill out from under the awning- so it melted a bit of the roof-Woops!!) It was delicious!! What a fun evening!

Sword fighting, bike riding good time!

Paili, Jakob, Linde, Jack

Jakob decided to smile in this one but, of course, Pai had to not look.

Friday was my 1/2 day at work and I was so looking forward to spending the afternoon with my girls. But, Linde texted and asked if she could take Pai with her and the boys to see Brave. I couldn't say no to that. A special outing with her boys and Aunt! What fun! I took Sky and went on home. The Garmans came over and brought over an early birthday present...

Yay!!! I love it! It's perfect!! I rode up and down my road just praying that I wouldn't crash in front of my neighbors that were hanging out. Thanks Aaron, Erin, Colby, and Maddy! I love you guys!
Colby and Sky were sword fighting. So funny.

Linde dropped Paili off at my Moms with the boys so Erin, Maddy, and I went to go pick up Pai. She had gone on a walk with my Dad and my nephews so we had a little time to play with Gabby.
Pretty girl!

Maddy and Gabby
I love these two. Colby and Madison.
Justin cooked a wonderful Mexican themed dinner. It was so good! I provided a delicious treat of things I found in our freezer. Good times! We had a great evening (as always) with the Garmans. So thankful for friendships that stand the tests of life. Funny story from the evening...My littlest darling decided while the adults were sitting around the table talking and watching her play on her horse to reach into her diaper and pull out a little baby boomer and bring it to me. Gag! Needless to say, she got a full on bath right then.
Fitness:We take Fridays off.

One crazy Thursday!

Thursday I left work early to take my little munchkin to her Dr for her 18 month check up. Yes, I know we're a month behind! (She's really 19 months!)My Mom took Paili and the boys to my Aunt's to swim for the afternoon. The Dr just loves Sky and he told me at her 1 year visit that she wouldn't like him at her next appt. Boy was he wrong! She is such a funny little girl. She's sure that everyone loves her and is dying to play with her. She's in the 98% in height, the 82% in weight. She had to get 1 shot, and she did great! Cried for less than a minute and then was back to her cheery self.
I've started doing a lot of the grocery shopping (my choice) and I'm loving it. I feel so powerful searching for the best deals! We went to Food 4 Less, Aldi's, and Price Cutter. There was a bunch of old ladies out and about and they loved Sky. She was quick to smile and say "HI!" to everyone she saw. (No idea where she gets that! HA!) We enjoyed our time out and about together. I love spending time with both of my girls but I cherish the one on one time that I get with them. These moments go by so quickly and my girls are growing up way too fast. She was so good at all the stops we made. I layed her down for a quick nap when we got home. I got some cleaning done and put away all the groceries. When she got up we played and played. We watched The Fresh Beat Band. She is so funny when that show comes on, she loves it! Paili got home late from being in Kansas with my Mom so Justin put her to bed while I went on my run.
Shayla and I had our 22 minute run on the C25k schedule for the nightly run. We had just began our warm up-not even a block from where we started and we heard screaming and yelling coming from the yard of the house we had just passed. I heard a man screaming for someone to get the F out of his truck. (Over and over) I know now that the someone was a female. She apparently refused to get out of the f'n truck and decided it was a great evening for a quick drive up the street. This is the point that Shayla and I jumped into the ditch so we didn't get hit by the crazies. The man continued his screaming and cussing and jumped onto the hood of his truck, she gunned it and off they went down the street, almost hitting 2 cars on their way home. I always carry my cell on our runs so I called the police. While I was on the phone with them, they came back and somehow were alerted that I had called the police. The girl stood at the front door screaming that now some (insert your own random cuss words here) (ME!) was calling the cops. To go ahead and call them, make sure and tell them that he gave her a black eye. I did relay the message, by the way. The police got there pretty quickly and found the fighting couple. During the whole ordeal, the scaredy cat, Shayla, had left me and had gone on down the block to wait for me. She had struck up a conversation with an older man who owns a custom bike shop. We walk by his business all the time and we typically wave and say hey to one another. He asked Shayla what all of the craziness was about and as she began to tell him what she knew, he called the man who had been fighting by name. "Oh, you must be talking about Frank*. That Frank*, he's a good guy. That girl is just crazy." He asked me if I was the one who had called the police, I told him I had. He said, "well, they go on fighting like that, they sure can't blame someone who doesn't know them calling when they make such a scene. He's a good guy though." I told him what she had said about him hitting her to which he replied, "oh yeah, he hits her, she hits him. It just happens." How can someone by nonchalant about abuse. Whether she eggs it on and hits him too or not. It's just not right. I still feel I made the right decision by calling the police and I'd do it again if it happened tomorrow.  I would hope that if something crazy like that was happening to me that someone wouldn't just ignore it. I would hope that someone would pick up their phone and call the authority. Frank* has 6 children according to the old man. I hate hearing that there are children that have to put up with that kind of behavior. Yes, I know it happens all the time. But that doesn't make me hate it any less.
We ended up finishing our 22 minute run with no problems. The whole route we took was 3.41 miles. We only saw a couple of skunks on the road. :)
*Frank is not his real name.
P.S.  This is my 60th post! Wow!

Something I struggle with ALL the time...

The following Q&A is from a blog that I follow called Runs for Cookies. The bloggers name is Kate and she is amazing. She has lost 125 lbs and kept it off!

Q. When you were losing weight did the compliments ever embarrass you? Maybe its because I still have such a long way to go, or embarrassment that I let myself get so overweight, or even that, yes I've lost weight...but I could have tried harder or skipped a dessert and lost more? But the compliments don't motivate me, they just embarrass me.A. Definitely! I was still very overweight when people started complimenting me, and I was embarrassed about accepting a compliment. I realize now that it's because I had very low self-esteem, and I thought that as an obese person, I didn't deserve to be told that I was "pretty". Jerry even started calling me "Sticks" after I had lost 10 pounds--I was horribly embarrassed about that! hahaha
But when people give you compliments, it's not because they are forced to--accept the compliments graciously, because they really do mean what they say! You're worthy of compliments, even if you feel like you "could have lost more" or "tried harder". You're obviously making strides to improve your life, so that is definitely compliment-worthy!

This is Elise again...
I'm not embarrassed when I'm complimented-at all-but I do feel like I've got so much farther to go that you shouldn't be impressed yet. I love every single compliment that is thrown my way. I am thankful for the support system that I have around me-DAILY! I'm sure that I will say this all the time throughout this journey...THANK YOU. Thank you for taking the time to stop me in the middle of my sentence to talk about my shrinking gut, my pants that are hanging, my boobs that aren't filling out my shirt anymore, how much thinner my face is, and more. I love that you guys support me. I love that you guys are so proud of me. I love that you tell other people that I've lost another person (I haven't, really, but I love that you think that I have!). If none of you ever said anything or cheered me on, I'm sure that I would have thrown in the towel by now. I am blessed beyond measure to have you all beside me cheering me on. It brings me to tears to think about how much I am loved and supported.   I love my life.

P.S.  Did I say thank you? :)

Rachel Lampa-Blessed. I love this song. If you haven't heard it, listen!

Wednesday was Yoga. Shayla, Kellie and I worked our butts off!

Flippin Fun!

My girl doing her thing!

Sky and Jakob.

My flippin girl and Jack!
Tuesday was a run night and Kellie ran with Shayla and I. Kellie did incredible! I'm so proud of you, girl! We saw our skunk friends out again. I think that they live in the drainage ditch. They are so cute! Well, as long as they aren't spraying me!
We weighed before we ran. Kellie weighs 99 lbs less than me. Ha! :)
Shayla hit her first 10 lbs lost! Woooo!!!! Proud of you Shay!! I knew you could do it!
Since I've been weighing on May 13th I've lost 18 lbs. I know I've lost way more than that. My best guess is closer to 40 lbs. I really wish I would have weighed when I first started February 2nd. Oh well!

My Dad, the kitten rescuer.

Monday was super exciting! When I got off work and walked into my parents I heard kittens mewing. I didn't think much of it because there is always some kind of animal making some kind of noise around my parents. My brother was there dropping the boys off. It was great seeing him, even if it was for a very short time period! He and Jenny were getting ready to go to California for Jenny's sisters wedding. My family enjoyed teasing me about my shrinking butt. I love that they notice and tell me. And it wouldn't be my family if they didn't tease me while doing it. The kids (Jakob, Jack, Paili) went out to investigate later and found the kittens. My daughter came in bawling that they were stuck in a big tube. I laughed a little because my girl can be a bit over dramatic when it comes to animals. My Dad said if they were stuck where he thinks they are, its useless. They're 8 feet down. I went outside to appease the kids and stuck my hand down in the tube. I couldn't feel anything, so I asked one of the kids to go and get me a flashlight. When I peered down the hole, my heart sunk. Of course, my Dad was right. I could see 2 little kittens staring up at me...way...way...way far down. There was no way that anybody could reach down there. The kids and I started thinking of things we could do. Lee and I decided we'd call them all Jessica. (Remember the little girl that was stuck in the well in the 80's?) We went back inside to plead with my Dad to do something. He said, he'd been thinking and if he could get a small wire he would make a knot that when he gets a kitten to step into it/or just grabs one he can pull them up. It worked! My Dad ended up getting 5 kittens out of there. Woooooweeee---they STUNK!  Awesome job, Dad! So...who wants a kitten??  One more exciting thing... Paili started doing flips on the trampoline!
Kellie and Jack
Amy
Monday=yoga! Kellie came and joined us! I was so excited that she came! Amy is back from camp! Jack too! Shayla didn't make it. It was a great class. I love working out with these girls and my Dad! After class Kellie and I stood around and talked. I really enjoy talking to her. During class Aaron texted saying that the finale was really good! (from the firework show!) I knew that meant he had gotten the pictures and video back from when I accidentally reformatted the card. Thank you again Aaron!!

Pai's new bed!

My girls enjoying a bubble bath.
Bubbly Sky.
Baths make you hungry!
I love snuggle time with Momma.
She was on an important call.
Sunday all of us got up late after such a late night out having fun. Needless to say, sadly, we missed church. I really hate missing church.  I gave both the girls a much needed bath. We hung out around the house, Paili played outside with her friends. I deleted all the pictures from the party. (See yesterdays post-Aaron got most of them back!) We ate some very yummy left overs from the BBQ. My Mom texted and asked if I would want the bed the Justin had made for my oldest nephew, Kyle. We've been wanting a new bed for Pai so I said, YES! My Mom brought it over and Justin and I took down Pai's old bed and put the new one up. She has so much more room to play now. I love it! She loves it. We're all very happy with the change.I didn't get any pictures of the transformation, I was still in my funk from deleting all the pics from the day before. We went back over to my parents and cleaned up the mess left from the firework party.
Fitness: We didn't get home until later than I would have liked and Shay didn't want to run that late so I just did some exercises at home.

Me and Janie.
Saturday was the big day! Justin spent the day cooking. He made smoked chicken, smoked pork, smoked bologna, smoked sausage, smoked baked beans, potato salad-with and without onions, cut up watermelon, sweet tea, and lemonade. I spent the day cleaning and playing with the girls. Justin's Dad and Janie (his girlfriend) came up and spent most of the day with us before the party got started. Janie had a very rough week and I was so glad that she came, I love spending time with her. She told me how everyone was doing since the accident, if you missed that post, it was on Wednesday-My Granny. Tanya and the kids are living with her right now because they can't imagine going home without Ronnie yet. Please continue praying for their family. Janie is so good with my girls. I really can't tell you how much I appreciate her. We headed over to my Mom and Dads where the party is always held and my Dad had the table already set up for the food. (Thanks Dad!)We had 58 people at the BBQ this year. We had some new families join us this year. We had so much fun. The kids ran around like heathens. The adults all sat around chatting and eating. I chased Skylar around. I didn't take as many pictures as I usually do because of all the activity Skylar was doing. You have to keep your eyes peeled on her every second because the second you don't she's doing something she's not supposed to! A few of my favorite moments of the night are Sammie getting chased by one of the guineas and screaming like a little girl, Deborah already knowing who the other people are because she reads my blog faithfully-who knew?!?!? (Thanks Deb-LOVE YOU!), getting to tell people that my little Yvette is pregnant and hear their excitement, seeing the Garmans after they've been on vacation (Missed you guys!), holding baby Landon (I'm in love!), hearing Vals older boys yelling about how loud the fireworks are (do they even know their Momma?), enjoying time with friends and family. We have some really fantastic people in our lives and I'm so blessed to know and love each of you. I was messing with my camera on Sunday and somehow reformated my memory card and LOST ALL OF MY PICTURES FROM THE PARTY!!! I was absolutely SICK! You know how much I love my pictures. I was so angry at myself. I lashed out at my poor husband who was trying to help. I came to my senses and googled if once that happened if there was any way of getting your pictures back. I read over and over that it was but you'd have to pay for the program to get the pictures back. I would have most certainly payed but I knew I had the ace of spades in my back pocket. Of course I called...Aaron. He knows me well and knew just how very upset I was. He told me to send my card with Justin to work on Monday. He did it!! I'm missing a few pictures (sorry Andy, Justin, Jeff-at least you're mentioned!) but I am so happy he got the majority of them back! He spent a couple of hours working on it for me. Aaron, you're my hero! Thank you so much for spending your precious time and energy on saving my pictures. You're the best! I'll leave you with the video of the finale from the show the boys put on.
